Getting Results

Can VoteMaster read results direct from the wire?
Yes. Once you tell VoteMaster which races you wish to cover, it will automatically read the results from your wire, and record them in the database.

VoteMaster can also read results from Secretary of States Web sites, AP’s Web Site and more.

How many wire services can VoteMaster read results from?

VoteMaster comes ready to receive AP (NewsPower or AP Election Wires). It can also read results from other services, such as numerous Secretary of States Sites, county or other election computers (if those services are available in your area).

Does VoteMaster allow me to manually enter results for local races that I cannot get from the wire?

Yes. Each computer you run VoteMaster on has an option which will allow you to enter results manually. Races are automatically grouped according to county, ward, district, etc. as you choose during setup. When the reporter at the XYZ county courthouse calls in, all you need to do is choose XYZ county from a menu, cursor to the race(s) you want to update on a list of races being tracked in that county, ward, district, etc., and enter your updated results.

What happens if someone tries to enter outdated results?

VoteMaster will warn you if you attempt to input either precinct counts or vote totals which are lower than those already stored in the database. VoteMaster gives you the option to decide if you wish to override the computer and enter the results in question for that race, or keep the results already in the database.

For race results being read from the wire, VoteMaster warns you if the wire service attempts to update a race with either lower precinct or vote totals, and keeps a log of races where questionable data has been transmitted. VoteMaster makes it possible for you to override the wire, and make whatever corrections you see fit to make.

How many types of displays can VoteMaster produce on my CG?
VoteMaster provides for both full-screen and lower-third displays, and both display formats can be run in either Manual or Automatic mode.

In addition, you can add additional (optional) CG channels or CG machines to achieve simultaneous, multiple CG output.

Can I control the order in which VoteMaster sends results to the CG?
Yes. As a matter of fact, VoteMaster has Four different ways of determining the order in which you put results on the air:

·         Pre-Build Rundowns that contain desired Races in a desired Order that you determine. You can still insert new Races or other Rundowns interspersed with what you planned.

·         Manual - You choose which races to air by selecting the rundown/race using VoteMaster's hotkeys.

·         New Results - If you choose, VoteMaster will display only races which have been updated since the last time you displayed them.

·         You may also choose to have VoteMaster output only the First Page of Candidates to the CG. (This would be the top vote-getters.)

Who decides what the results look like on the air?

You do! Actually ... your CG's capabilities do. You determine and control your on-air look. Your graphics staff designs a series of CG Templates that contain your custom logo’s, colors, fonts, positioning and animations. VoteMaster calls the proper Templates, fills in the data and displays the results in Preview within a second or so.

What order will candidates be shown in?

VoteMaster always displays Candidates and their votes in the order of the most successful vote-getter on down. With our system, your anchors and your audience will never have to guess who is leading because the candidate with the most votes is always on top! Of course, if you want a fixed order every time, you can also set that.

Can I control the number of candidates we will see on each screen?

Yes. VoteMaster's powerful utilities enable you to determine how many candidates will appear on the screen.

·         If you want four candidates to a full-screen page, and a given race has six candidates, VoteMaster will display the top four vote-getters first, then prepare a second CG display with the remaining candidates.

·         For lower-third displays, VoteMaster feeds results for the top two candidates, then results for the next two, etc. until the last candidate's totals are shown. VoteMaster's lower third display utilities allow you to decide if you will show all of the candidates in a race, or only show the leader and second place candidates.

I want to do a "squeeze" in prime-time and super results in the lower third of the screen. During my newscast, I want the same results full-screen. Can VoteMaster do that?

Yes. VoteMaster's full-screen and lower third displays can be switched on/off with a simple keystroke. VoteMaster can be programmed to activate certain other features of your CG during startup and stopping the results display.

We want to run continuous results overnight. Can VoteMaster run results by itself or does it need a person to operate it?

Can VoteMaster run a second CG display with continuous results? We have an LMA for a second station in our market, and may want to put non-stop results on the LMA at the same time we are displaying results in our newscast.

Ordering & Installation

How far ahead of my election do I need to order?
VoteMaster orders should be placed 45 days (or more) in advance of the first election you intend to use it for. Orders and installation schedules are on a first-come, first-served basis. We will do everything we can to get your system up and running, but the more notice you give us, the better-prepared you will be on election night!
