Press Release-New Product For
Immediate Release
Comprompter Unveils Caption Central” at
NAB 2009
La Crosse, WI
One of the new products that Comprompter
will unveil for the first time at NAB 2009 is “Caption
Central”™ … an All-Purpose Captioning System …
designed to provide multiple Captioning solutions for local
broadcasters, which include: NewsRoom Computer Systems (NRCS), Keyboard
Entry, Live Voice, pre-recorded audio and pre-stored text files.
Comprompter
CEO, Ralph King said, ”We have been developing Voice Recognition since 2005 but
have taken this product beyond what anyone else is doing. Caption Central
brings together nearly every conceivable Captioning situation and provides
a built-in solution for it. We tried to imagine every normal and abnormal
event and built Caption Central around those scenarios.”
“We included
almost every method of input: dictation, direct studio input, and audio
pass-through; audio and text file
ingest; as well as live keyboard entry.”, King continued,
“Caption Central is an extremely powerful tool for both Live and
Production use”.
Caption Central™ performs a context
comparison and tries to select the most appropriate word when a conflict
arises over which spelling of that word occurs. “Caption
Central even does Spell-Checking and capitalizes proper names of
‘people, places and things’ it recognizes.” King added,
“Caption Central is a standalone system that can output
captioning for our own NewsKing Newsroom system, or nearly any other
newsroom system.”
The Audio In feature allows a live studio voice,
like weather or sports, to be fed into Caption Central and instantly turns
their unscripted words into captioned text. “This is the most universal system of
captioning that exists in the broadcast market today and we are proud to
offer our fellow broadcasters the opportunity of really serving the hearing
impaired community in the most complete and instantaneous way possible.”
said King.
Comprompter will be showing Caption Central along
with NewsKing and NewsFlow Complete in NAB Booth
#SU10802, South Hall, Upper Level. “Our
27th year at NAB!”

Comprompter Releases NeXT NewsCast Automation
Software
La Crosse, WI
La Crosse-based
Comprompter News and Automation Systems announced the release of their
newest NewsCast Automation product today.
NewsKing NeXT is a tightly
integrated news presentation software that controls a wide range of control
room devices required for the production of any newscast.
Ideally
suited for producing back-to-back shows, where turn-around time is only a
matter of seconds and staff requirements are minimum. A single operator can
control the entire production suite with a simple keystroke or touch of the
“NeXT” button.
Comprompter
CEO, Ralph King said, “We’ve
been doing automation for 25 years now, but our NeXT NewsCast Automation represents a step up in practical,
affordable automation. NeXT is a
100% software solution competitive with any software/hardware system
on the market today – and at a fraction of the price.”
King continued, “NewsKing and the NeXT NewsCast
automation are highly compatible with almost every broadcast production device
out there so the broadcaster does not need to add a bunch of hardware … because NeXT
Automation is purely software.”
The
Windows-based NeXT™ Automation will be released on March 1, 2009.

News Release For Comprompter Clients Only
Comprompter NewsKing NeXT
NewsCast Automation is Coming!
La Crosse, WI
December 11, 2008
A message from Ralph, President,
Comprompter Inc..
I just wanted to take a minute to
let you know of our latest developments here at Comprompter.
We are working on our next generation of NewsCast Automation
that we call “NeXT”. Instead of separate Control Panels for each Device like in
our current Automation, we have combined all the Devices into a single
Rundown that contains every event/device and the order in which they
appear. Thus, the Operator need only press PLAY to trigger the current event and load the NeXT event. Of course, we still
offer three levels of automation like we do now: Full Auto, Semi Auto and
Auto-Manual so each Director/Producer can set up their show exactly the way
they want it to run.
The single rundown concept
simplifies the control of each device and a single person can trigger the
event – either the Director or someone designated by the Director.
Response is immediate for those live timings that are so crucial to a great
professional on-air smoothness. NeXT is designed to improve your production
values and increase the accuracy of your on-air presentation. Your Director
would have to work very hard to screw something up!!!
Script and/or Rundown changes can be
made inside of NewsKing and the Next Automation is instantly aware of those
changes and even remakes or adds CG’s on the fly.
Please review the attached draft document to
get a better look at our NeXT NewsCast!

Comprompter
Announces NewsKing “Caption Central” that handles all Three types
of Captioning Needs: NRCS, Typing and Voice Automation
La Crosse, WI
June 25, 2008
Comprompter, today announced a new product will
be joining their line of News and Automation Software. “Caption
Central”™ is designed to provide multiple Captioning
solutions for the local broadcaster. From sending out Captioning from
NewsRoom Computer Systems (NRCS), Keyboard Entry, and Voice Captioning.
Comprompter CEO, Ralph King said, ”We have been
working on Voice Recognition for Captioning for several years and even
showed a beta version at the last 2 NAB shows … but it just
didn’t quite keep up to the pace of a fast Anchor.”
“This year we switched to a
Microsoft Vista Platform for the voice module and that made all the
difference in the world”, King continued, “Caption Central is a
single touch-screen computer where one person can control all the
captioning from any newsroom system; or type in adlibs, or speak into the
headset Mic and the words are turned into text immediately”.
Caption
Central™ performs a context comparison and tries to select the most
appropriate word when a conflict arises over which spelling of that word
occurs. “Caption Central even does Spell-Checking and capitalizes proper names
of ‘people, places and things’ it recognizes.” King added,
“Caption Central is a standalone system
that can output captioning for our own NewsKing Newsroom system, or nearly
any other newsroom system we’ve tried so far.”
A unique USB-based
Audio Mixer allows a live studio voice, like weather or sports, to speak
directly into Caption Central and turn their unscripted words into
captioned text. “This is the most universal system of captioning that
exists in the broadcast market today and we are proud to offer our fellow
broadcasters the opportunity of really serving the hearing impaired
community in the most complete and instantaneous way possible.”
said King.
Caption Central™ is scheduled for release
1st Quarter of 2009.

KBJR Upgrades NewsKing Server
Automation
Duluth, MN June 24, 2008
Comprompter, this week installed a New NewsKing Server specifically
designed to handle the workload of 6 major news outlets that cover the
entire Lake Superior and North Shore Region.
In 2007, KBJR TV owner, Granite Broadcasting Corporation, formed
“The Northland's NewsCenter” by combining several broadcast
properties in the Duluth/Superior region into a single broadcast facility.
Stations include: KBJR-TV (NBC), KRII-TV (NBC), KDLH-TV (CBS), KBJR-DT2 ("My Network TV") and
the market's cable-based CW channel.
The NewsKing NewsRoom and NewsCast system coupled with Digital Broadcast’ NewsBank
Video Production system facilitate more than 50 hours of local news programming
each week at “The Northland's NewsCenter”. NewsKing
provides the backbone for the complete end-to-end digital solution
featuring multi-channel Ingest and Playout, editing and networked storage
along with CG and Captioning output. This solution has allowed
“The Northland's NewsCenter” to work in a shared digital
network workflow environment that makes this kind of production
consolidation cost-effective and practical.
Clip Viewers are embedded inside of NewsKing so that Producers can
preview news clips from their workstations and Reporters can easily enter
the body copy of SOT’s and PKG’s for
complete Closed Captioning. NewsKing monitors and controls the playout of all video clips and CG’s for each
newscast.
The newest Server Technology will enhance and speed up production
capabilities even more.

Caribbean Media Corporation Adds NewsKing
Automation
La Crosse, WI February 13, 2008
Comprompter
News and Automation recently installed CG and Digital Video to the NewsKing
Newsroom system at CMC’ headquarters in Barbados, West Indies.
Utilizing very cost effective systems from Compix Media and Video Technics,
the new automation will dramatically increase the News and other
Programming output locally and throughout the Caribbean. CMC recently contracted
to provide Caribbean-oriented programs for a series of cable companies in
the U.S. as well.
CMC
Chief Engineer, Garcia Thornhill stated, ”We have been working with Comprompter in
our newsroom since 1997 … and when it came time to step up to a new level
of productivity, Comprompter again offered the greatest value and the
greatest amount of both News and Production Automation.”
Ralph
King, Comprompter CEO, said, ”In order to meet the new technology and production
demands of entering the U.S. market, CMC has time-shifted from analog to
digital in a remarkably short time. With the show preparation and
presentation automation of NewsKing, there normal workload will ease in
itself … and given the transportability of our automation from one
show to another, CMC will be able to produce nearly twice as many shows
with essentially the same staff.”
NewsKing will generate graphics on a Compix 500
with 1 channel for news and the second for a lower third crawl. A pair of
Video Technics Apella Servers in a NewsFlow configuration will provide the
news and commercial content play out. Workstation editing and browsing
allow multi-user nonlinear show preparation to occur throughout the
facility on simultaneous shows.
